INTERNATIONAL DOCTORATE

INTERNATIONAL DOCTORATE IN TRANSLATION STUDIES (ID-TS)CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE SELECTION ROUND 2025

Doctoral programs in Translation Studies are invited to join the ID-TS network
What is the ID-TS?
The International Doctorate in Translation Studies (ID-TS) is a worldwide network of existing
doctoral Translation Studies programs or doctoral programs that include a Translation Studies
component. It was officially launched in September 2017 and presently consists of 17 member
institutions based at research-training institutions in 12 different countries. The scope of the
network is not limited to Europe, and the ID-TS and its members are concerned with Translation
Studies in a broad sense, including research on all branches and aspects of translation and
interpreting.
The chief aim of the network is to achieve international cooperation in the field of doctoral
education in order to promote higher quality in student recruitment, program content and delivery,
research design, publication of research, mobility and employability. These aims and the activities
of the network are set out in the ID-TS Foundation Document (https://idts.pro/home/id-ts-
foundation-document/
).
Why join the network?
Apart from giving international visibility and support to doctoral programs in the field, the ID-TS
offers opportunities for networking and joint doctorates, access to expertise in partner institutions,
doctoral training events, and funding opportunities for member institutions and their doctoral
students. Information about the ID-TS Doctoral Training Support Scheme and the ID-TS
Mobility Grant Scheme, as well as about recent activities of the network, can also be found on
the ID-TS website.
How can you join?
Applicants are invited to submit an “Application Dossier”, together with two Declarations of
Eligibility and Conformity, by 15 May 2025. All the forms and templates are available on the ID-
TS website: https://idts.pro/join-id-ts/application-documents/. The full application must be in
English, although supporting documents may be in the original languages. Before filling in the
application form, please read carefully the Guide for Applicants, which contains detailed
information on eligibility and selection criteria and on how to fill in the different parts of the
application form. Send the completed application documents to idts.board @ gmail.com. Applicants
may also contact the Board at the same email address if they need more information about the
application process or the annual membership fee (currently €300).
The results of the application process will be announced by early June, before the upcoming EST
conference to be held in Leeds, where network representatives will meet and elect the new Board
of Management.
We hope you will be interested in joining our dynamic network and offering your institutions and
doctoral students exciting opportunities for growth, learning and collaboration!
Best regards,
The ID-TS Board of Management
