New Series of the ID-TS Doctoral Conference 

Researching Translation and Interpreting in the 21st Century

We are delighted to invite doctoral researchers to participate in the new edition of our ID-TS Doctoral Conference series, a dedicated space for PhD students to share their research, exchange ideas, and engage with the wider community of translation and interpreting scholars.

Presentation formats

We welcome contributions in two formats:

• Standard paper presentation: 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute Q&A
• Pecha Kucha (recommended for early-stage researchers): 20 slides, 20 seconds each, for a fast-paced, dynamic 6:41-minute presentation. A great way to introduce your research and get feedback without the pressure of a full paper slot.

Keynote 

“Researching Translation and Interpreting in the 21st Century”
A Conversation with Lynne Bowker

The conference will feature a keynote conversation with Professor Lynne Bowker, Full Professor and Canada Research Chair in Translation, Technologies and Society at Université Laval and Adjunct Professor at McGill University. Professor Bowker is a leading voice on translation technology and machine translation literacy. Rather than a traditional lecture format, this session invites participants into an open dialogue: Lynne will reflect on her own trajectory as a researcher, share her perspective on how doctoral work in Translation Studies has evolved over the past two decades and explore where the discipline is heading, including the profound questions raised by AI and its implications for research ethics. The conversation is designed to be genuinely interactive and invite attendees to participate in the discussion, making this a space not just to listen, but to think together. 

Registration fee

• Students of ID-TS member universities (with or without a paper): free of charge
• External participants (without a paper): €30

How to submit

Send your abstract (200-250 words,  excluding references) in English, French or Spanish by 30 September 2026.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent by October 15. The final program will be available by October 31.
